Simba leads the forged of beloved characters as The Lion King arrives Wednesday for its Broadway San Diego run.
The perennial favourite, a six-time Tony Award winner, together with Finest Musical, continues by Sept. 11 on the downtown San Diego Civic Theatre.
Darian Sanders stars as Simba for the North American tour, with Gerald Ramsey as his father Mufasa, Spencer Platchy as Scar and Kayla Cyphers as Nala. John E. Brady and Tony Freeman provide the comedian reduction as Pumbaa and Timon.
Tony Award-winning director Julie Taymor purchased the unique Broadway manufacturing to life in 1997 after the success of Disney’s 1994 animated movie traditional. Elton John and Tim Rice contributed the music.
Tickets begin at $25.50. Night performances happen Tuesday by Sunday, with matinees on Saturday and Sunday.
The upcoming Broadway San Diego season contains Cats in September, the return of Hamilton, Annie and one other Disney favourite, Frozen.
